Should Australia boycott the Chinese Winter Olympics in 2022?
Boycott on the grounds that China is behaving abysmally and abusing human records on an industrial scale. China is obviously also no longer a safe place to travel.
China also spread the virus , failed to disclose and now refuses to co-operate. Doubtless also expects the vaccine for free.
China is not safe to travel to. You are subject to arbitrary arrest.
DFAT Advice re China. If you’re already in China, and wish to return to Australia, we recommend you do so as soon as possible by commercial means. Authorities have detained foreigners because they're 'endangering national security'. Australians may also be at risk of arbitrary detention.
It is not known if China has the virus under control due to lack of credible information from China. The Australian Government certainly does not think China has the virus under control.

If China was boycotted for its dismal human rights record the same should apply to half or more of the worlds countries.

I think the world should send a delegation to check to see how safe the snow is, I really can't see how there wouldn't be high levels of toxins, it might be unsafe to have games there.
We all know the Chinese are big on health and safety when it comes to imported produces. So the world must undertake the same vigorous scrutiny when it comes to athletes health and safety.

Great Britain are a shambles at the Winter Olympics, we only got 1 gold in 2018 and finished 17th so I don’t mind if we boycott it.

China couldn't care less if we boycotted the games, the only people you would be hurting are the athletes who have trained their whole life for an opportunity to represent Australia in the Olympics.

The Chinese record on human rights isn't new in the slightest. So it would be odd to start boycotting now.
Also; China is entirely safe to travel to. They have the virus under control; unlike a lot of Western nations.
