Calculating energy release from Nitrogen-14 decay?
Calculate the energy required/released to form C-14 from N-14 and a neutron. The reaction is 14N + n →14 C + p + e.

look up the precise mass of 14N and a neutron
then add up the precise masses of 14C. p and e
take the difference between the two sums
put the mass difference (in kg) into E= m c ^2
to get the energy difference in Joules
