Whats the difference between my acoustic foams for my home studio?

I bought some acoustic foam from guitar center. It came with the standard foam and bevel foam. The guy at guitar center told me that the bevel foam would act as a bass trap. I am starting to question whether that was true. Do both of these acoustic foam shapes do the same thing?
