Is it bad that I can't swim?

I'm not a very strong swimmer, and the other day when I went to the pool I had to ask the staff for some floats. Preferably armbands, and the girl behind the desk looked at me like I was crazy and started laughing. She said it was "pathetic" that I needed armbands to swim, but gave them to me anyway. They must've given me a bad pair since one of them kept leaking air. Is it really that bad that i cant swim without armbands?

Nah. That's your parents responsibility

You can learn to swim.  I have taught thousands to swim, people of all ages.  It's dangerous not being able to swim so get a teacher.
