Why are people annoyed I didn’t open the door?
A bunch of trick or treaters came and one started crying outside so their parents validated them by calling my house rude for not opening the door (during a covid pandemic)

The real annoyance is at the crying child, but since parents today tend to lack the ability to mediate or discipline..the blame or responsibility has to be redirected.. i.e YOU.
Are you keeping your outdoor lights off?

I don't think you were being rude, you don't have to give out candy.
Keep your outdoor lights off so they know that you are not giving out candy.
Please TOS report that troll impersonating me.

That's nothing. In my case people are annoyed when I *open* the door and they see me, hun.
