Are California's taxi cab drivers all on a W2?

SOME drivers own their cabs and are self employed.

SOME have always been employees just like people working at McDonald's.

The answer to your question as asked is no, regardless of the law other answers assume you are asking about.

No.  They lease their cabs for a shift.

No.  Cab drivers are self-employed; not employees.  Only employees get W2 forms (the W stands for wages).

Taxis are not part of AB5.

AB5 is wrong on so many levels but it was initiated by taxi companies wanting to drive out Uber/Lyft which is what will happen if Prop 22 fails next week.

    Vote YES ON PROP 22!

But that is not enough, we need to repeal AB5!!!

-- it impacts many people besides gig workers.

Judith has no f-ing idea what AB5 is.
