If I join the military, does that mean I have to kill people?

Only if that's your job and deployed.  Many are support troops,  they don't even routinely carry a weapon. But all personnel are qualified at the range so they can if so ordered.

The Chemical Carps. EOD, cooks, orderlies. surgeons, nurses, clerks,  etc. are good examples. Even chopper and cargo plane pilots.

That is a possibility. The military isn't the Salvation Army.

You might have to. Unless you are a security guard, doctor or some job that doesn't kill people.

Doesn't mean you HAVE to, but you better be ready to if it comes down to it.

That depends if you are assigned a combat role and we actually get into a war.
