Why isn't tobacco illegal?

This toxic poison kills millions and millions of people, yet the government is doing nothing to stop it. that just goes to show how they only give a sh*t about money.

It shouldn’t be up to the government to decide what people do with their bodies. People are well aware of the dangers of smoking, and choose to do it anyway. That’s their choice. They should also legalize drugs. It’s not hurting anyone else. It is not the government’s job to save people from themselves. And making something illegal doesn’t make it go away.

making it illegal won't solve anything

plenty has been done so don't say nothing is.

Consider the failure of the war on drugs. Billions wasted and over crowded prisons.

Whereas millions could have been spent on rehabs and help centers instead.

Don't know what "government" you're referring to.  But in the US the government has done much to reduce smoking in the US.

Some of the tobacco companies have had to pay big fines for knowing cigarettes cause cancer but covering up that fact.  WARNING signs are on every pack of cigarettes because of the government's mandates.  And anti-smoking ads are aired from time to time and paid for by the government.  The cost of a pack of cigarettes is artificially high due to taxes that are imposed by our government.Bottom line...compared to the 1950s when just about everyone, including youngsters, smoked very few Americans smoke now.  I doubt millions of people in the US die each year from nicotine poisoning; you made that one up.

  • "The government" DID go after them, and fine them hugely, in the 90's. But cigarette companies are CORPORATIONS, so Republicons allowed them to pass the fine onto their victims, by raising the price from $1.75  to $10 a pack.
