Wildlife biologists working at the level of healthy large carnivores in an ecosystem aren't looking at molecules and reactions to conclude that the habitat is healthy.  Your teacher should not have asked this question.  It's akin to asking, "You're stationed on Mars and observing the planet Earth.  How much do people walking around on Earth deflect the Earth's orbit?"
