    No

But if there were are you going to deny a whole load of hungry children on the basis gf what is likely to be an extremely isolated incident?

Don't believe a word some bastard Tory MP (or the Daily Wail) tells you!

Yes I have been told by people who work in supermarkets that they have been trying to exchange them for booze and fags.

People's perceptions of what is normal is all different. They'll say they're struggling for food, but will probably have a mobile phone contact or, annual holiday, or sky TV, because they think this is what everybody else has.

Only anecdotal. Vouchers need to be valid for specific items, otherwise they just go to help reduce the whole shopping bill. This may then enable more alcohol or drugs to be bought later by lowlifes.

Some Councils make payment by transfer rather than as vouchers saying “We can only advise that this allowance is used to purchase food” - this is not good enough, they need to make the system fit for purpose. Parents who are going without to feed their own children don't want to feel they are subsidising the lifestyle of others. No surprise that socialists like to be free and easy with other people's money.

'Food' vouchers can only be used to buy....... FOOD, however that food won't necessarily be made into a nutritious midday meal for the school aged child in the family.

None whatsoever. No one claiming such rubbish has ever been able to point to a single documented case, or name a single name. It's all anecdote and tittle-tattle.

  • If the money is presented as a voucher then of course you can't buy a PlayStation. Get real.

However, family allowance is going on things other than the children such as alcohol and drugs.

There is an argument for buying a PlayStation for the kids and even a wide-screen TV out of family allowance, but not if the kids are going hungry and need school meal vouchers or hand-me-downs such as clothing and toys.

Parents need to get their priorities right, and if they choose to have kids they should put them first.

Those that can't afford them should be sterilised.

Plenty of anecdotal evidence from staff in Asda and Tesco that vouchers are being used for cigarettes, alcohol and non food items. Often they are intimidated by customers who kick off when they try to decline vouchers.
