Do older amplifiers support the .ape audio format on a CD? ?

It is the job of the CD player to recognise different audio formats and to output them in a standard form the amplifier can amplify. An amplifier will amplify anything that it receives in the correct input channel. APE is not a normal CD format so is not currently supported by many CD drives. It is likely APE files can be burned to an audio CD and played on a standard CD player by converting the APE file to a standard CD audio format.

When I see the term "older amplifiers",
I think of those made long before the advent of digital formats.
You need to look at specific models and check their feature sets.
