What salary do you need to live in New York City?

If you plan to live in NYC, at minimum a salary of $65K a year to $90K a year and that would be for yourself.

It depends on how you want to live, and where in NYC you want to live. Living in Manhattan can be very expensive, while living in Staten Island can be less so.

Based on your current standard of living and what kind of standard of living you want to have. https://www.bestplaces.net/cost-of-living/
The cost of living in NYC will vary slightly between the various Burroughs. So if Manhattan is your idea of NYC, use Manhattan, NY for comparison purposes. Cost of living is lower on Staten Island, but if you work in Manhattan you will spend several hours commuting everyday.
My daughter worked as a CNA at NY hospital (in Manhattan), earned between $35K-$40K per year. She lived in a 2 bedroom apartment with three other girls (two girls per room) on the upper east side (~78th and 1st Ave), but she managed. She also walked to/from work everyday (8 miles each way).

allow me to put it this way........every single McDonalds and fast food place is staffed by people who live in NYC. Somehow, they manage it.
