My belts are loose and I need tighten them, how would I go about this?

The best way is by following the guidance from a Haynes manual. However if you look closely at the bolts attached to the alternator you should see a bolt for adjustment. You will need to slacken off the other bolts slightly and turn the adjustment bolt which should move the alternator away from the engine and take up the play in the belt. Be very careful not to overdo it as the pulley bearings will be damaged. There should be about half an inch of deflection with thumb pressure on the centre of the belt's longest run. If there is an automatic tensioner in the belt skip what I have said and renew it.
