Can I use a torn birth certificate for a passport? ?

I’ve never had a passport before and need to apply for one. My birth certificate is ripped in half, but still readable and everything is on there. Will it be okay to use? What about if I sellotape it?

You must replace your birth certificate with a certified copy from the birth registry authority where you were born.

I'd call or e-mail the agency to make sure it's all right.  And if you DO sellotape it, do it on the back.

Not sure, but you'll want to replace it anyhow.  I'm not thinking you should even try it.
