Are most Americans really religious, or is that mostly just a thing of the past? ?

Last I hear, most Americans claim to be religious. In Europe, most people have become atheists however.

A person can have greater religious fervor by way of having true devotion to the Sacred Heart of Jesus.

Most Americans claim to be religious because in the past it has been a societal expectation.

Fortunately it is changing.  In the Northeast and the Northwest it's perfectly acceptable to be an atheist.  I live in the deep south and am not treated any differently now that I'm an atheist.  It's as if my beliefs don't matter at all.
