we supposedly went to look for Osama Bin Laden, who was supposedly "cornered"  at Tora Bora , before Bush flew him out on a CIA jet.

Then we spent the next 14 years pretending to install "democracy" to a bunch of cavemen.......while we secretly tried to sign deals for mineral rights to Lithium, which Afghanistan is rich in, and much needed for computers.

That's essentially the long and short of it.

What led to troops in Afghanistan?  Have you heard of something called 9/11?  We were bombing the Taliban not long after for harboring AQ and bin Laden.

The consequences of removing troops are that the country falls further back into their f'd up ways and the country completely falls apart (once we leave the only thing holding it together is that old roll of scotch tape that you found in the bottom of your grandma's junk drawer) and the Taliban or some other similar organization takes over.  Remember when we left Iraq?  How long did it take ISIS to overrun half the country?
