The word "Hallow" is old English meaning sacred, or saint. It is used in the Lord's Prayer (Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name). It is also used to refer to saints. November 1st is All Saints Day, and October 31 is Halloween. Therefore, Halloween is the same thing as all hallows eve.
The day before Halloween is NOT all hallows eve - Halloween is just another way of saying all hallows eve.
