Why can’t I use antibacterial wipes on a tattoo ?

  • They can irritate your tattoo if it's newly done, and possibly even damage it if it gets irritated / infected

You shouldn't be recovering your tattoo with plastic, that is a breading ground for bacteria which can cause infections. keep it covered with lose fitting clothing. Wash your tattoo with plain unscented nod died soap, don't rub it or exfoliate your new tattoo. Gently wash it with your clean fingers. Pat it dry with a paper towel or a clean cotton towel. Use unscented not died lotion or a tattoo ointment, or if your tattoo artist recommended one then use that. Also use plain unscented not died lotion, if your tattoo starts to feel dry. Wash your tattoo at least 2-3 times a day, your tattoo should be fine.

If your tattoo has healed, you can use wipes on it, just use some lotion if your tattoo feels dry. Wipes shouldn't affect your tattoo if it's healed.

It will sting like crazy. Instead wash with an antibacterial soap like Hibiclens, or even an anti bacterial bath soap like Dial or Lifebouy. Then apply a thin coat of anti-infective ointment or cream like Bacitracin or a triple antibiotic. Cover with NON ADHESIVE plastic (Saran wrap works) and tape in place. Repeat every 2-3 days until healing is complete.

You can, gently. It won't wipe off the tattoo.
