Does manually shutting down a tablet damage the device?

By holding the power button for 30 seconds until it turns black.

Read the manual, for some that resets, to factory settings, you would lose all of your data.

If it's doing nothing that won't hurt. You should, though, follow the shutdown procedure properly as that will shut down anything running rather than cut it off abruptly which can lead to corrupt files.

Not unless you do it during an upgrade and even then probably not.

No, not at all or the vendor wouldn't have allowed you to do it.

NO.  It may take longer for it to boot up next time because it wasn't shut down in an orderly fashion but it does not damage anything.  All that does is interrupt the power for the shut down.

I think it takes less than 10 seconds but that's what the power button is for. I've saved a lot of recharging by using that button without damaging my gadgets, tablets included.
