Yeah and that's how you end up with a skullet.

Yes, but buns, especially tight ones will cause more hair to fall out.

Yes, it IS true. There are two  problems. One is that people tend to pull their hair back very tightly. This is fine once in a while, but all day, every day, for weeks? It puts a real strain on the roots.

The other problem, though it's a lot less common these days, is using a rubber band to hold the tail, rather than an elastic band that's covered in fabric. Rubber bands are HELL on hair.

When I was young there was very little choice, but now you can buy proper elastic bands on every street corner for practically nothing. Buy half a dozen in different colours.

Yes. Especially if they're pulled very tight every day.

Using rubber bands can break your hair. It is hair breakage that is the damage, not loosing your hair.

Day in, day out, tight as can be? Yes. Loose ponies or leaving your hair down a few days a week is better. I know ponies are the go-to for many, but it really hurts your hair when you do it tighter than all hell.

just  pull  back  the  ponytail  loosely.

It's true only if you pull the hair back so tightly that it pulls out the roots.  It's OK to do this once in a while, and you won't notice any difference.  However, if you do it all the time, eventually it will be noticeable.
