can I use a 20w50 in vtec?

    Tat's a sure way to ruin the cam advance actuators! Only use the eight oil that's listed on the oil filler cap or recommended in your owners manual.

    Yes!  Just pull your motor (plus, buy about 15 spares) and bring it to a machinist/engineer and tell them that you want to use thicker oil.  Have them reverse engineer it.  May cost a couple hundred grand, but if you find the right person, they can probably do it.

    You can use whatever you want. Smart people use the recommended viscosity. You asking the question leads me to believe you aren't in that category
