Is remote bookkeeping a good profession?

I'm concerned: are computers

taking over that industry? True?

"Bookkeeping" is pretty much obsolete. Accounting qualifications are really required, and they are a glut on the market in many areas. Computerization has taken over some functions accountants used to perform, reducing the need for accountants in some instances. And a lot of accountants are self-employed, work remotely, etc. What are your qualifications - education, training, experience, any specialization (e.g. tax accountant, auditor, etc.)?
