True Or False: Green Day's American Idiot (2004) Was Ahead Of It's Time?

False.  It was completely within its time.  It's a solid album, and will probably be one of those timeless classics like Back In Black or Appetite For Destruction, but nothing Green Day did was ever ahead of its time.

They just know how to put a catchy song together.  That's an important talent to have, in fact it's more important than any musical skill, but it's not ahead of its time.

False: Green Day's American Idiot was as big a piece of trash

the moment that it came out, as it still is right now.

False. It was a product of its time.

False, it wasn't particularly innovative or influential to future music. If anything it was derivative at the time and dated now.

I assume what you actually meant is that the lyrics are still relevant.

False.  American Idiot was just as appropriate in 2004 as it is today.  Back then, half of the country believed the war in Iraq was a legitimate part of the greater War on Terror, and half of the country believed the Bush administration exploited the War on Terror to justify a war to remove Saddam Hussein from control of Iraqi oil production.
