California title transfer cost?

Question

I recently bought a car my roommate sold me. He already did his side of notify the dmv etc. As the buyer it states I have 30 days to notify the dmv and paid the fees and show proof i have the title. Since I was busy for about 2 weeks I didn't have a chance to submit my info but its still less than 30 days. I was able to do it online yesterday and they emailed me back that my payment is 300 dollars...... is that accurate? I'm fine paying for it just when I googled the amount it says its a 15 dollar fee not 300 dollar payment......

California has a lot of fees and taxes that may apply to your car, not just the title transfer:
