can you be baptized more than once?
- ANONYMOUSLYLv 62 months ago
IF YOU WERE BAPTIZED IN THE NAME OF THE FATHER THE SON AND THE HOLY SPIRIT. YOU ARE GOOD TO GO. IF NOT IT MUST BE DONE OVER AND IT DOES NOT MATTER HOW OLD YOU ARE, BAPTISM AND INFANTS, IT DOES NOT MATTER WHETHER THE CHILD KNOWS HE IS BEING BAPTIZED OR NOT, THE EFFECTS ARE STILL THE SAME, THE ERASING OF ORIGINAL SIN. YOU ARE THEN BORN AGAIN, PUT IT THIS WAY, WHEN THERE IS A NEWBORN BABY, YOU DONT SAY, WE'D BETTER WAIT TO NAME HIM WHEN HE IS OLD ENOUGH TO KNOW WHAT IT IS, OR A NEWBORN BECOMES A CITIZEN, YOU DONT SAY OH, WE WILL MAKE HIM A CITIZEN THE MINUTE HE IS OLD ENOUGH TO UNDERSTAND. SO YOU SEE, BEING BAPTIZED AS SOON AS POSSIBLE RID THE CHILD OF ORIGINAL SIN. IN JESUS DAY WHOLE FAMILIES WERE BAPTIZED THAT INCLUDING ADULTS ALONG WITH CHILDREN AS JESUS TOLD THEM TO DO.

You can, but why would you?

How can you show that you want to serve God? Jesus told his followers: "Go... and make disciples of people of all nations, baptizing them." ( Matthew 28:19) Jesus himself set the example by being baptized in water. He was not sprinkled with water, and he did not just have some water poured over his head. Matthew 3:16) The word "baptized" comes from a Greek term meaning "dip under water." Christian baptism therefore means being fully dipped, or immersed, in water. Water baptism is a requirement for all who want to have a relationship with Jehovah God. Baptism publicly indicates your desire to serve God. It shows that you are delighted to do Jehovah's will. ( Psalm 40:7,8) To qualify for baptism, however, you must take definite steps. For more information JW.ORG

The only place in scripture that warranted rebaptism....
Acts 19:1-5 KJV — And it came to pass, that, while Apollos was at Corinth, Paul having passed through the upper coasts came to Ephesus: and finding certain disciples, He said unto them, Have ye received the Holy Ghost since ye believed? And they said unto him, We have not so much as heard whether there be any Holy Ghost. And he said unto them, Unto what then were ye baptized? And they said, Unto John's baptism. Then said Paul, John verily baptized with the baptism of repentance, saying unto the people, that they should believe on him which should come after him, that is, on Christ Jesus. When they heard this, they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus.
You may ceremonially/publicly rededicate your life to Christ, but rebaptism is not biblically warranted.

Yes, and there are a number of reasons one might choose to be re-baptised.
These might be
1. Understanding the ritual difference between infant baptism and baptism by choice
2. Understanding that your previous baptism was coerced rather than being a personal choice (peer, parental, or pastoral pressure), because you knew what it meant, but the request to be baptised wasn’t accompanied with a spiritual revelation
3. You may have been baptised in the past, then renounced Christianity, and later in life recommitted yourself to Christ
4. You changed denominations (for whatever reason) and the doctrines of your new church will not recognise the previous baptism as being valid.

Yes, but usually repentance is all that's required. A rebaptism would be necessary only if you found a church that actually has authority from Jesus Christ to baptize, not from some seminary or book or university, or if you had been excommunicated before.

Not validly. Baptism is spiritual rebirth. Just like biological birth, it can only happen once.

Of course. Any number of times is possible.

Interesting question. I don't know what its called the second time you are renewed by the Holy Spirit.
You are supposed to be crucified with Christ DAILY according to paul. Unless you are supposed to be crucified daily by yourself because Christ died once and for all people even though all are not saved.

You can do anything if you work hard and believe in yourself.
