Why is my GPU not giving a signal to my display? ?

If I unplug my gpu 6 pin cable and plug the vga cable into the motherboard, I do get an output. With my GPU, I just get a black screen and the motherboard doesn't beep no matter how much I wait. It beeps once with the onboard graphics.

The GPU works fine in another system (even under load). I even cleaned the RAM sticks and the RAM slots (it didn't help).

What could be wrong? The PSU? The mobo's pcie slot?

  • I've tried switching to PCI-E from Internal in the BIOS and that didn't help.

Go to BIOS. There might be a setting that switches primary graphics from motherboard to GPU.

Check your BIOS settings and make sure the default display is set to PCI-E. The manual for your motherboard is pretty poor, so I can't tell you exactly what the setting is called. Maybe 'Primary Graphics Adapter'?
