Are pets better off in the wild ?

Nope. Most would die and the ones that survive could become invasive species and which could result in the death of native species. No good can come from releasing pets.

Many "pets" have lost much of their natural survival skills.  They would try to hunt but they may not have the skills to be successful at it.  They would end up raiding neighborhood trash cans to try to find food and being poisoned by some person who gets tired of cleaning up the dumped out trash.

No - PETS are NOT better off in the wild.  They have become too domesticated.

not once they have been domesticated to live with a family. They are unlikely to survive on their own. Not impossible. But less likely.
