My step-father committed suicide on the day after Christmas 2012. Could it have been he did not like his presents or was it deeper then that?

I have always had a fear it was the presents even though my mother says it was his mental illness and delusions that she was going to leave him (she was not really going to). I am an adult but have feared it was the presents. Is there anyway to try and figure out which it was? He left no note. He seemed delusional Christmas Day but we just ignored it since he was drinking.

If it was the presents, then that proves that he was very mentally ill.  Nobody in their right mind gets that upset with presents.  Christmas is about a number of things, but once you get past Santa Claus, presents are the least important thing.
