Is it cool for NCOs to constantly threaten to smoke their soldiers?

Say you are in a team of 3-4 squared away soldiers, and you are given a first line leader who is constantly threatening to smoke them, or constantly telling them to not be late when they always show up on time, would that lower morale in that team or cause them to dislike that nco as opposed to having an nco that shows them respect, is cool with them but also knows when to be formal. Going to be making rank soon, and one thing ive noticed is that when ncos are being a d*ck to their soldiers for no reason, those are the ones that are hated the most.

I have never heard  the expression "smoke" used, except for actually smoking cigarettes, and on this forum.  It is not something we every say in the military; not in the Canadian Forces at least.  However, micro-managers are pretty much disliked everywhere.  Most just like to get on with the job, and to do it without being told how, unless help  is needed.

Petty stuff, not worth worrying about.

sounds like some scum bag soldier whining about being held accountable
