Will Ferrell movies have made over $2.5 billion at the box office.

I forgot what the ratio of (box office money)/(budget) is for a movie to be considered profitable but if it’s 2:1, he’s done a pretty good job. Most of his movies have made at least double what the budget was. The exceptions are Holmes & Watson, Semi-pro, Curious George, Land of the Lost, Zoolander 2.

Elf is considered the most profitable Christmas movie of all time. Megamind was a huge animated hit.

The thing about his movies is that it’s not going to costs a bunch of money to make so even if it flops, the movie studio isn’t going to take a major hit. Holmes & Watson only costs 42 million to make and it almost broke even.

I don't follow his movies, but I wonder how they would get backing if his track record was poor returns on investments.
