Is there a drug problem in Japan?

    Not so much. Even possessing marijuana (weeds) are subject to getting arrested, so be careful.

    All the countries in the world have that problem.  But Japan's is not as serious as America's.

    If you mean are there any illegal drug users in Japan, then yes.

    If by problem you mean it is rampant and out of control, then no.

    In Japan and most non-Western countries, there is no social acceptance of recreational drug use.  It is not glamorized as in the case of Western society. If you are caught even with marijuana, you end up in prison such as the case of Paul McCartney in 1980 who was stupid enough to take his stash of weeds to Japan. It took the intercession of the British ambassador to keep him from going to prison.
