Inherent in socialism is the requirement to use police force to compel the unwilling to give up their assets and incomes to the collective.  [See Hayek for this, 1945].  Lenin fully understood this and knew he was founding a police state.  Police states always result in the police, military, and/or secret police hierarchy dominating the political life of the government -- This became plain in Soviet Russia when Lenin died and Stalin [who was not Lenin's designated heir] seized power while Trotsky [who was the designated heir] was out of town.  You'll have to find the relevant citations yourself and, I warn you, your teacher is unlikely to accept wikipedia as a valid source.
