Is Special Alternative Incarceration Only available to people with short sentences?
In the Michigan DOC, is the SAI program only available to inmates that have been sentenced to short terms (like 2 or 3 yrs)?
I was reading the eligibility requirements on Michigan’s website, but it’s very confusing. Would someone who was sentenced to 15 years ever be eligible for the program if they stayed on good behavior? They’re in there for a non-violent offense and are currently at a level two facility. They have just over five years left to go. They were under the assumption that they could possibly get into this program when they have just three years left to go
