Should I get paid for a company to use my photos on their Instagram account? ?

I'm a freelance photographer. My brother works in marketing for a major company and manages all their social media accounts. He texted me saying that the company assigned him a project to post on their social media and asked me if I had any photos regarding the subject matter. I did in fact have photos but he wanted me to just hand them over for free. I may be wrong but shouldn't the company pay me to use my photo?

Yes, the company should pay you AND sign a contract, too.  You need to have a contract which specifically states what the company can use the photos for.  Otherwise, they pay you once and use it for whatever for ever.

  • The company did not ask you, they have no exposure (excuse the pun)
