How accurate would a pregnancy test be if I took a test early in the morning on the day I’m supposed to get my period ?

A positive test would be accurate.

A negative test might be the result of testing too soon.

Late ovulation would cause a late positive on a test.

If you get a negative, then wait five to seven days and test again if the period doesn't start.

Depends on how you calculated the day you're "supposed to get your period."  If you were just counting days, it might be accurate, it might not.  If it's positive, it's accurate. If it's negative and you don't start a period in a few days, test again.  Continue until you get a period or a positive test.
