They can't. Everyone who has died has to wait for the resurrection.

Why do people accept Satan's lie as to life after death?

Because they don't know any better or someone they trust told them it was true.

Some quote Ecclesiastes 12:7 as to 'a person returning to God' at death.

But let's insert this idea into the verse.

(Ecclesiastes 12:7) Then the dust returns to the earth, just as it was, and the spirit returns to the true God who gave it.

Then the dust returns to the earth, just as it was, and the "person" returns to the true God who gave it.

The pronoun associated with 'person' is "IT"  and it is God who gives the person 'it'.

What does God give a person?

Next let's examine how other translations have translated this verse.

–NAB "the life breath returns to God who gave it"

-NET "the life’s breath returns to God who gave it"

One of the definitions of 'spirit' is 'breath'.

What did Jehovah blow into Adam, that brought him life?

The 'breath of life' and then Adam became a living soul or a person.

What happens when a person stops breathing?  They die.

How do these scholars explain Eccl 12:7?

New American Bible (published by P. J. Kenedy & Sons, New York, 1970), “When ‘spirit’ is used in contrast with ‘flesh,’ . . . the aim is not to distinguish a material from an immaterial part of man.”

Interpreter’s Bible: “Koheleth (the writer of Ecclesiastes) does not mean that man’s personality continues to exist.”

It was Greek Philosophers that taught that some part of man; his spirit or soul ‘lived on after death’.

The bible likens death to sleep, unconsciousness. Those whom God chooses receive a resurrection, a standing up, the free gift of everlasting life, a re-generation to life. All others remain dead.

According to Peter where was King David? He wasn't with God in heaven.

(Acts 2:29) . . .David, that he died and was buried, and his tomb is with us to this day. . .

(Acts 2:34) 34 For David did not ascend to the heavens. . .

Peter tells us, that Jesus was resurrected by God.

(Acts 2:24) 24 But God resurrected him by releasing him from the pangs of death, because it was not possible for him to be held fast by it.

    Paul tells us:

(1 Corinthians 15:20) 20 But now Christ has been raised from the dead, the firstfruits of those who have fallen asleep in death.

    (Colossians 1:18) 18 and he is the head of the body, the congregation. He is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead, so that he might become the one who is first in all things;

Jesus is the first to die and be resurrected or to return to heaven.

What does the apostle John tell us?

(John 3:13) 13 Moreover, no man has ascended into heaven but the one who descended from heaven, the Son of man. . .

If everyone ascends to heaven at death, then Jesus couldn't have been the first.

If as trinitarians teach 'the person returns to heaven at death' what kind of person are they?

According to Ecclesiastes 9:4-10, they know nothing, they haven't any emotions, including love.  They, in effect become zombies, roaming around heaven.

Jehovah as a loving God and Father has promised a resurrection.

Jehovah as a loving God and Father desires none to be destroyed but to come to an accurate knowledge of him.

(John 3:16) “For God loved the world so much that he gave his only-begotten Son, so that everyone exercising faith in him might not be destroyed but have everlasting life.

Everlasting life is given only to the faithful, all others are destroyed.

The three persons of the Trinity are repeatedly referred to in the Bible, both individually and collectively. Of course, I mean the original and true Bible, not the rewritten JW version.

Jehovah’s witnesses why do you deny scripture that clearly shows that Jesus is God?  Jesus Himself did not deny being God when Thomas said “My Lord and my God.”

2 Corinthians 5:8 8 We are confident, I say, and willing rather to be absent from the body, and to be present with the Lord.

1 Peter 3:18-20; 4:6 show that the spirits of the dead are active and aware between death and the resurrections.  Still, you are right about one thing: The spirits of the dead do not go directly to heaven, but to Paradise.

Why the question arises:  Most of the world's false religions teach that something inside a person continues living after death. Some hold that the dead can harm the living or that God punished the wicked  by condemning them to eternal torment in a fiery hell.

But the Bible teaches : At death, humans cease to exist. "The dead . . .are conscious of nothing at all," states Eccl. 9:5. read also Eccl. 9:6,10.

I'm not trinitarian nor Jw but Revelation 20:14-15 says of "the second death" (v14) that "If your name is not found in the book of life [you will be] cast into the lake of fire" (v15)!

Ecclesiastes 9:5 says "the [physically] dead have no more rewards"

Ecclesiastes 12:7 says  "Then shall the dust return to the earth as it was: and the spirit shall return unto God who gave it."

Ecclesiastes 12:13-14 says "Let us hear the conclusion of the matter..." (v13)

"For God shall bring every work into judgment, with every secret thing, whether it be good, or whether it be evil."

"For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ; that every one may receive the things done in his body, according to that he hath done, whether it be good or bad" (II Corinthians 5:10).

Therefore your "spirit returns to God who gave it" (Ecclesiastes 12:7) to "Stand before the judgment seat of Christ" (Ecclesiastes 12:14; II Corinthians 5:10) and "If your name is not found in the Book of life, you will be cast into the lake of fire" (Revelation 20:15) "which is the second death" (Revelation 20:14)!

I know, it is like when Trinitarians predicted the 2nd coming was going to happen in 1914, 1915, 1918, 1925 and 1975, and obviously got it wrong each time, then, Trinitarians backtracked and lied claiming they never made the predictions in the first place.

Does that sound familiar? Oh yeah, it must because it was the jehovah witness and not Trinitarians that did that. JW's were wrong repeatedly for a century, why listen to the watchtower now? Are you afraid of the cult like tactic of disfellowship?

You are part of an immoral cult, free yourself!

People don't go straight to heaven or hell after death.  There is no hell.  People reincarnate to learn more lessons.  There is no trinity.  There is only God.
