Bears, regardless of which bear you're talking about, are tough animals and solid bone and muscle. JHP ammo is nice, but with something like a bear, with what is realistically a top performing defense round, you're going to need a heavyweight solid or soft point, something like a 200, or maybe a 220 grain from makers like Underwood, Buffalo Bore, Double Tap and a few more.Source(s): I own a few 10's and have hunted with a 10.
