What happens when a suppreme court justice dies?

    Before 2016, what happened was that whomever was President at the time would appoint someone else and the Senate would vote on whether that person was acceptable.  In 2016, Mitch McConnell announced that would not happen in election years and that if it was an election year, then the Senate would not vote on anyone whom the President picked and would wait until the next year and the new President.

    The Senate approves a replacement based on a list provided by the President of the USA.

    It's Supreme.
