How is it acceptable for colleges to remain affiliated with churches?

Some of the leading schools in the US continue to have ties with churches.  Georgetown and Notre Dame are Catholic, for example.

How is this bigotry and exclusion tolerable?

You do not have to be Catholic, for example, to apply for admission to Catholic-established & funded schools. Your bigotry is showing, as churches have the right to practice their religion, establish educational institutions, train their clergy, etc.

They are private institutions, dear, not public.  Private institutions can do what they want.

However, today, neither of those schools accepts only Catholics, and their faculty and staff are not entirely Catholic either.  If they were religiously exclusionary in terms of admissions and hiring, they could not receive federal funds.

Sectarian schools that DO wish to be exclusionary do not accept federal funds.
