If you file a restraining order do you have to show up at court as well as the defendant ?

The judge will rule based on the evidence presented IN PERSON at the hearing. In a "he said/she said" case, if only one party shows up, their story is true as far as the judge can tell.

You can't file a restraining order.  You CAN file FOR a restraining order, and, yes.

Yes, you need to show to provide testimony in person. If you don't show, the order will be dismissed.

Well duh,  you think the judge will "listen" to your side if you do not show up?   All the other guy has to do is ask for a summary judgement and deny the order.
