biology hw question?
1. Imagine a curved tube separating side A and B with a semipermeable membrane. Side A has 40 molecules of salt dissolved in water and side B has 10 molecules of salt dissolved in water. Which way the molecules move through the membrane and why?
a. From B to A, because osmosis allows this to occur
b. From A to B, because molecules move down a concentration gradient
c. From A to B, because molecules are charged and move up a concentration
d. From B to A, because diffusion is a passive process so water will move the red molecule across.

None of the four answers is correct. The correct answer is that salt molecules will move in both directions. However, the NET movement will be from A to B.
