why haven't there been any category 5 storms this year in the Atlantic?

We've had a record or near-record number of storms this year, yet none of them have become very severe.  It looks like we won't have any cat. 5 storms this year in the Atlantic.  Isn't that odd?

Methinks you need to revisit the definition of "severe".
