Are phantom smells with seizures mild? Easy to cover up?

I’m worried I might be having focal aware seizures. I thought I smelled blueberry muffins earlier. It was really mild though. If I smelled something else it would cover up the smell. Is that how this works with TLE?

Phantom smells can precede a seizure but you can have phantom smells without a seizure.  There's no clinical significance to a brief isolated episode of phantom odors.   Recognition of odors is partly a conscious thought process where you literally decide what it is you are smelling.  You can incorrectly identify odors just like you might see a big boulder at night time and think its a bear.
