Why are the topic categories on yahoo answers so generic?

adding new categories has been suggested as long as there have been suggestion boards.

Yahoo has not yet seem fit to enact that suggestion.

Because there would be THOUSANDS of subcategories if Yahoo had tried to make one for every possible topic. Too many are inactive as it is. MOST topics anyone would want to post a question on, can fit into a subcategory on YA. Every category has many subcategories to narrow down the focus of the questions.

The place to request a specific subcategory for a topic you feel needs it's own area, is the feedback forum here https://yahoo.uservoice.com/forums/924010 That's the place to post suggestions for changes/improvements to the site, as well as notify the Yahoo/Verizon about issues on the site.

Because they list a lot of subcategories if you haven't noticed.
