Layover in Luton during COVID-19?

Hi everyone!

I have a trip to Iceland on the 25th this month from Portugal, and I also have a four hour layover in Luton. However, I just noticed that Luton is a point to point airport and that means I'll be entering UK borders and emigration. Does that mean I'll have to do the 14 days isolation? Or can I travel to Iceland and just stay in the UK for 4 hours?

I'm very uncertain because the embassy website doesn't really answers this question in particular but I've read that you can break the self-isolation if you pretend to leave the UK.

Hope someone can help me.

  • If you go from arrivals to the transit lounge and do not leave the airport, you do not have to self-isolate.  If you go through passport control, you are regarded as having entered the UK and have to self-isolate for 14 days.
