Yes. The "rationale's" will vary, but for the most part the price change is based upon the market demographic's ability to source alternatives. "If they gotta get it, and they gotta get it here, the price goes up."

    - The cost of transportation is one of the major factors as it increases the traveling and handling cost of the product.

    - Also, if something is manufactured in X area then its rate in its own area would definitely be less as there is no extra cost for the carrier of major costs involved but if the product has to be sold in Y area then these factors comes in and makes it a bit expensive.

Cost of doing business varies geographically.    In some places it costs a whole lot more to run a store than others.

For example, minimum wage in Seattle is $16/hour but $13.50/hour outside city limits.   Real estate and property tax is a lot more in Seattle too.

Prices are based on cost of living in the town they are in. Same chain in my town is more expensive for the same items as the same chain, a town or two over.  You'll also find things like gas will vary like that too. The higher the average income level is for a town, the higher the general prices of everyday items are too.

Grocery store items can different in price from one store to another on the same block.

    The reason:

    - differences in pricing strategies of the store or the distributor

    - differences in the amount of product one store buys/quantity sold.
