Is there a way to lighten my natural black hair color, without using harsh chemicals?

I have natural black hair. I would like to lighten my hair to at least a medium to light shade of brown, causing  little to no damage. Can this be achieved?

In the past, I have had no success with things such as lemon juice, vinegar, hydrogen peroxide, or baking soda.

I've always had to use a boxed dye containing amonia. Or a bleach kit in order to achieve results.

No, there's no way to lighten dark hair naturally other than sun bleaching. You would just need to be out in the sun a lot and the pigment would become slightly lighter. It wouldn't all get to a light shade of brown however. The ends would lighten faster than the roots.
