I like one that uses five or six CC batteries with an aluminum case.   Gives good light and you can use it as a baton or nightstick.    Plus with a little modification it can be used as a flash suppressor and silencer for a sub sonic round like the 45 ACP.

    None!

It just gives the other person something to shoot at! There is no reason to "announce" where you are at and a flash light does that. My night vision is good enough to stalk with out one.

A tactical flashlight makes sense in very few situations. Batons are lethal force, and a maglight is basically a baton. If you have to use lethal force, a baton doesn't make much sense. It's not going to do any good against a gun, and you're bound to get very hurt against a knife. The only situation it makes much sense is against a dog. If a dog attacks you, killing it would be justifiable in almost all cases, and you're not going to be outgunned. Otherwise, a gun makes more sense. As for less than lethal defense, a taser could be effective, but will instantly kill someone if they have a pacemaker. Pepper spray could affect you just as much as your assailant. You're probably better off going hands on in most situations. Sound grappling can control an intoxicated person when tasers and pepper spray can't.
