Can I use laundry detergent to clean the carpet?
While the vacuum gets free dirt, it does not really clean the carpet fibers themselves. Laundry detergent is created to clean multiple types of fabric, from clothing to carpeting. The detergent will truly wash the carpet, starting it fresh and free of trash.

Not wise. Hire a Rug Doctor and buy the correct chemical. That way the results will be worthwhile.
