What is Hunting Tartan?

Scottish clans would have two tartans.  One for formal dress (sometimes divided into modern and ancient)   and a hunting tartan.   The hunting tartan would blend in better with the tress and grass.    For some clans they were the same as the formal tartan was already pretty dark with a lot of green and browns.   But for others,   for example The Barclay dress has a lot of bright yellow whereas their hunting tartans were pretty much based on green.

That`s TarZan. Tartan is baby talk for someone that has trouble with Z`s. You hunt WITH Tarzan....not FOR him.

I think a tartan is some kind of plaid cloth the Scottish hang over their bagpipe.(you surely couldn`t mean that!)
